Jeff, who has more than 20 years of public accounting experience, manages the San Diego office of Kieckhafer, Schiffer & Company (KS&Co).  Jeff’s practice focuses on complete or partial tax department outsourcing to his client base that includes more than 40 public companies and many more pre-public companies. Services offerings include FAS 109 and FIN 48 assistance, income tax preparation and review, federal, state, and international tax planning, and day to day consulting. 

Prior to joining KS&Co in 2004, Jeff was a Principal with Ernst & Young LLP (EY) in San Diego. He served as the lead tax service coordinator for many of the areas prominent companies, including numerous SEC registrants.   At Ernst & Young and throughout his career, Jeff’s focus has been on the technology and biotech industries for companies ranging in size from start-up ventures to Fortune 500 status. Jeff has provided a broad range of tax services to his clients including federal, state, and international tax planning and consultation, and tax return preparation and review.

At Ernst & Young, Jeff served as the area FAS 109 technical leader, was a member of the firm’s FAS 109 technical support network, and was a lead instructor for the firm’s Accounting for Income Tax and Sarbanes Oxley 404 for Income Tax training programs and seminars. 

Jeff began his career in Silicon Valley with Arthur Andersen and Price Waterhouse.  After leaving Price Waterhouse, Jeff moved to Davis, California to attend a Master Brewer certification program at UC Davis.  While attending UC Davis, Jeff built a local tax practice which he ran for 5 years until Ernst & Young recruited him to head their tax practice in Reno, Nevada.  After three years in Reno, Jeff relocated to Ernst & Young’s San Diego Office.

Jeff was born in West Bend, Wisconsin.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Marquette University (cum laude).
